Born 1961 in Bayreuth Germany. Study of medicine at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. 1990-1996 research fellow and 1996-1998 group leader and senior staff psychiatrist at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry Munich. In 1998 change as senior staff psychiatrist at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the LMU Munich. 2002 appointment as a C3 professor and since 2004 vice chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the LMU Munich. 2007 appointment as a Max Planck Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry. Since 2011 Director of the Clinic and Policlinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University of Regensburg.
