Born in Hamburg. Study of medicine and philosophy in Hamburg and Munich with stay abroad in Bologna/Italy and Glasgow/UK. Since 1999 research and clinical practice at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Munich. Since the end of 2008 Head of the research group "Molecular Psychotraumatology", since 2009 Head of the outpatient trauma clinic (startup) and senior physician of the ward 5. In 2011, obtainment of the certificate "Special Psychotraumatherapy" from the German Society of Psychotraumatology (DeGPT).
