Geboren in Würzburg. Studium der Psychologie an der Julius-Maximilians Universität Würz-burg. 1994 – 1999 Wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl für Biologische und Klinische Psychologie der Universität Würzburg. Seit 2000 am Max-Planck-Institut für Psychiatrie, von 2004 bis 2005 Leiter der Arbeitsgruppe Psychobiologie, seit 2006 Leiter der Arbeitsgruppe Molekulare Psychologie.
